Comments from the Owner

Rubgy got some surprising notoriety his first show out. The judge's comments were along the lines of "..good conformation...unfortunate color..". Despite this, we have been assured that: 1) there is nothing wrong with his color 2) that he has good structure and is a beautiful mover 3) he might finish, if, among other things, he could keep a show coat (he has highly sensitive skin). After two years in the ring, however, we are moving on to other things.

Rubgy's a happy dog, if a bit aloof from the bitches in our home. He's more attached to us than his kennel mates, hating to be separated from his dad for very long. Roxy and Anna have helped reconcile him to periods at home without the humans around, however, and occasionally bring out his more playful side.

Rugby is a surprisingly strong, birdy dog. We hope to channel his athletic talents and his love for us in agility, obedience and field work. We will continue to show him in conformation, but only at special events (e.g., local specialties), just to remind the fancy that there are many, beautiful colors in this wonderful breed.

Roxy combines a beautiful head & coat with a slight frame and wirey athleticsm. She is also, as one dear friend puts it "...very proud of her tail...". As a result, she has met with limited success in the conformation ring, but shows promise in agility & obedience.

Roxy has been the vocal one since she was born. She loves to talk -- we are convinced sometimes that she really tries to speak with us. This just highlights her remarkable intelligence. By her second agility class, Roxy was doing series of 4-5 pieces of equipment. She's now well on her way to her first (of many?) agility titles.

Roxy is a playful girl and a bit of a flirt, as our friends can testify. She's grateful for the company of our youngest Annabelle, who is her favorite playmate. Overall, Roxy's a loving, intelligent cocker...we wouldn't trade her for the world.

Comments from the Owner

Annabelle can be described in two words: beautiful and sweet. I cannot describe the pride I feel when I see her free stack for treats. Even people who are not in the fancy stop on the street, recognizing her as a show dog. I believe that she has inherited the best of her ancestors.

More importantly, Anna possesses the sweet, loving, playful personality that is the heart of the English Cocker. Our neighbors schedule regular visits with their children, because they all love to play with Anna...and she never grows bored with them! Regular play with children and with her pal, Roxy, continues to increase her confidence and merriness.

Anna's conformation career is off to a promising start. Also, her desire to please gives me hope for her as an obedience dog, and she has already started jumps and play activities in preparation for agility. I believe Rugby and Roxy are helping her develop her instincts, so some birdiness is also beginning to show. We hope to give her the ability to demonstrate her skills in this area as well.

Overall, Anna represents a standard to which our future breeding program will aspire.
